Hello everyone, I hope you guys are doing well and I welcome you all to another blog post about a book that has suspense, murder, and mystery. So, without wasting any of your time let’s jump into the review of the book ‘A Good Girl’s Guide to Murder’.
A Good Girl’s Guide to Murder is a mystery-thriller novel written by Holly Jackson. In this book, a young girl of 17 years old high school student, who lives in a small town called Little Kilton, starts a project as an excuse to find out who was the real culprit behind the murder of two people which happened five years ago.
Pippa Fitz Amobi or Pip is the main character who will be working on this case and will be investigating people, keeping the motive of finding the real killer hidden so that she and people that matter to her doesn’t get killed in the process, but, as they say, life is not that simple.
The people who were murdered five years ago were Andrea Bell or Andie and Salil Singh or Sal. In the book, the investigation, which was done by the higher authorities gave the verdict that Sal murdered Andie based on circumstantial evidence. The higher authorities could not arrest him because Sal committed suicide (or was it) and the reason declared was guilt. Due to this the case was closed, of the murder of Andie bell.
Now, Pip did not believe that Sal was the killer but everyone else in Little Kilton, just as we human beings are, generalized that since their own son was a killer they must be too, in some way or the other. Everyone in Little Kilton boycotted the Singh’s, except for Pip. Pip did not believe that Sal killed Andie, so in order to prove that Sal is not guilty, she took the help of Ravi Singh who is Sal’s Brother.
So, Who is the killer? What happened? Or Is the story really that simple? Well, for that you’ll have to read the book.
The book is great. It is new, fresh, and with a lot of new details, like for example if there is a telephonic conversation, it is portrayed in that tone. There are also visual elements which make the book look good, descriptive and will not bore the reader. The speed of the book is, I would say, is neither too slow nor too fast throughout, which was nice.
The writing style is understandable and like I said very descriptive, the writer has included very small details like for example, in one scene Pip was supposed to enter through the front door, in most of the books it will be cut to the next scene but here the writer made the character trip while entering the house. This was just one example, it is present throughout the book.
I would definitely recommend this book to everyone who doesn’t read a lot of mystery novels but love reading books and for those who love mystery-thriller novels and haven’t read this novel, well then what are you waiting for go to Amazon or Flipkart or whatever site you use to buy books and order this book immediately.
I give A good girls guide to murder 4.5/5.
